SomVaar

Som = Moon. First day of the week. The day which most people associate with Monday Blues. The day when life's just begun and things look hazy. A little bit lost. This section is some random articles I have written about life.

Gmail Woes

Having been one of the first starters on Gmail and inviting over 100 friends who are all using Gmail, I am beginning to have my first set of doubts about the perfect online email.

There are some íssues which I totally don't understand why they exist!

For starters, I dislike a new blank window which opens with every attachment you want to save on your computer.

For it's organising feature about conversations: I see my sent mail in the Inbox once it gets a reply as part of the conversation. But eventually it confuses me when I think of the conversation concept in parallel with the inbox/outbox concept.

Also, when searching emails, sent mails cannot be searched? Unless they have become part of the converstaions?

Sadly, I start this article by all the negatives. In fact, Gmail still is the best online email I have seen, and that's not only for the space it provides but the entire interface. My first email account (9 years ago) was in hotmail. I never thought I will be able to switch given the huge amount of emails I had there (huge being 200+!!). The inetrface was so convenient that switching to another email was like switching from a Nokia phone to a Motorola!

Gmail came with a blast and has been very successful. I am not sure what percentage of the global market share does Gmail have since two years of it's launch, but it got to be big if it can shake the guys behind Yahoo mail and Hotmail.

For those who are Google supporters, you must check out the Google Calendar. It's been a while it's there but after seeing how that works, I don't mind re-entering my Outlook schedules and meetings into Google!

I am still looking for Google to come up with better financial tools. Also, something against the rival http://finance.yahoo.com Any news about that?

I'm just experimenting around with all these things, almost like an end-user of technology!

Why

Its 0017 hrs and I wonder what am I doing here. Feel like writing something because someone told me I write well. Phew, I don't really care if you think I am talking good about myself! That's exactly why I am writing, I don't care. Thanks for reminding me.

So, when they asked me to put the title and category for this post I had no clue and I just wrote what I felt like. But maybe it's time I pay some respect to my headings. So, ...sorry for using so again, I'll try again. And now I used again twice, arggh!

Cut the crap moth, the question is what. what do you not care about?
Well I don't care about anything. I live in a shack, skip meals, hardly sleep, entertain myself, I keep super select friends: those no drama no shit types, and yes I work, but on and off. I smoke, I travel to the Sahara, the Alps, the Pacific Ocean and never pay a dime for a hotel. My motto in life is anything goes.

Why. That's the title of this article.
Proving with contradiction it seems easier: why not? So what if you feel uptown looking at me, but if you are always chasing after something you don't have, you've lost it pal. No actually, I believe its never too late. So, (so again!) (again again!) its time to find your soul. Its not about hitting the extremes like me which defines freedom. Its what you want. And look around you, if Mr Tan, Mr Michael, Mr Rajah (and not to leave the ladies), Mrs Yoko all wake up at 7 in the morning, come back home at 5, play with their kids for two hours, have dinner, watch TV and go to sleep, I have trouble believing that they all want the same thing. Therefore (almost used so), I do what I like, when I like and don't care about anything else.

Defiance.
If you are thinking that I am creating a world of my own which is unreal (your thought might have a stronger negative voice), it is true. But I am writing this not to encourage defiance but to share how freedom makes you feel. Group think, Yes men, Sheep have to be thrown and you need a complete makeover, one that has no face. Just imagine, if you had a body without a face (what I mean is that people can't identify you), what all you could have done! Well, punch my boss in his face is the one thing I would start with! Well, that was unnecessary.

Anyway, I guess you get my point. If not, I don't care (it always pinches to hear that). How we want the whole world to care about us sometimes? Okay, thats my new topic. Will write on that soon.
